ColonelMike
Surprisingly lopsided game. Collins put up a ferocious effort on defense, but the Colonels largely had little trouble with it except for the first part of the third period, when the Colonels turned the ball over 6 times.. Oldham County 19 15 18 17 - 69 Collins 5 11 16 11 - 43 Oldham shot 65% (13 of 20) in the first half, and set the tone early from the outside, hitting 6 of their first 12 threes With Collins keying on Slone, Oak, and Campbell, Grant Gibson terrorized the Titans early, hitting all three of his first quarter shots (all threes) to get Oldham going. It was 19-5 at the end of one, and that was pretty much all she wrote. For the game, Oldham shot a blistering 55.8% from the floor (24 of 43) and was equally devastating beyond the arc, hitting 12 of 24 threes (50%). At the line, Oldham was 9 of 10 for 90%. Amazingly, Oldham dominated the game despite leading scorer Tyler Slone (14 ppg) being held to just 5 points on 2 of 6 shooting. Sam Campbell paced Oldham with 15 points, Gibson had 12, and Deaton Oak added 10. The Oldham bench scored 22 of Oldham's 69 points, with 6'10" junior Hayden Burgess scoring 8 points on 3 of 3 shooting and 2 of 2 FTs. Oldham has now made the championship game in 9 of 16 seasons, including the last four. The Colonels will go for their fourth title in eleven seasons when they tangle with district 29 rival North Oldham on Saturday night.
