ColonelMike Posted March 23, 2021 Posted March 23, 2021 21-8 at the end of one quarter, 43-15 at the half. Oldham subbed freely throughout the game, and the starters were gone before the fourth quarter. JV and freshmen handled the final quarter for the Colonels. Sam Campbell led Oldham with 18 points and had three threes in the third. Xander Wagner-Rose scored at will on the inside - hitting 8 of 10 shots - and tallied 17. Oldham's bench scored 24 of the Colonels' 67 points. Oldham County hit 51% from the floor. Teagan Moore really tried to put the Rebels on his back, scoring 26 of Owen's 39 points, but the Oldham defense made him work hard for everything. Isaac Wash had 9. The story of the game, frankly, was the age difference. Oldham looked like the veteran, senior-laden team that they are - Owen is a superbly-talented, well-coached team that is still terribly young. The Colonels' motto would be something like "The Future is Now" - they are playing for today, because there is no tomorrow. For the Rebels, this was simply their "coming out" party - announcing a new, future powerhouse to the rest of the region. Their motto would be something more like "We're Headed for the Future". Congrats to Owen on a solid season and a return to the region; Congrats to Oldham County on a masterful performance. 1
