Belfry 78 Lawrence County 77

Recommended Posts

Missed a big performance by Belfry's 7'-3" Bol Kuir in a Thursday night game at Lawrence Co. Just WoW! Has anyone seen film of this kid?

~ Mark Gardner for the Courier-Journal

"Kuir, playing in his first year of high school basketball, ended the game with 25 points, 42 rebounds, and 8 blocks. His single-game board total is more than King "Kelly" Coleman's tally of 41 in 1956, and it ranks second all-time..."

@SportsLife covers the 15th Region for BGP. What can you tell us about young Mr. Kuir?

The pictures I’ve seen of him next to the teams they’re playing are hilarious. He is huge. He had to move to Belfry because he was ineligible in West Virginia. Anyone know why? West Virginia has a ton of African kids, so it’s not like they didn’t know what documentation was needed.

Is West Virginia relevant at this point? This doesn't have to be yet another "Belfry's Border Kids" thing. He's been cleared to play by the KHSAA and he's played the entire season. I don't care where the kid is from or how he got here. He's a Kentuckian now.

What I am interested in, is if anyone has actually seen him play (live or on film). Besides his obvious size, who wants to take a look at his skill set?

I think you missed my point. I don’t care where anyone lives or where they want to go to school. I was just asking why he was ruled ineligible in WV. Just general curiosity. They have a group of people there that bring guys into the country every year.

I see what you're saying now. Hot take by me.

 My apologies @HoopJunkie.

Bol Kuir has shown improvement throughout the season as you can see with his game by game stats. Wow, 42 rebounds is amazing! Belfry finished with 64 rebounds as a team. Kuir, by himself, doubled up Lawrence County 42-21 in rebounding for the game. He scored 25 points, which included 9-of-13 from inside the arc and 7-of-13 from the free throw line.

It's his first season with Belfry but he has played for the Pirates throughout the current season.
