Notes:

-It feels as though we have settled into rankings tiers at this point.  Bowling Green is the clear #1, and the only team unbeaten in region play.  In fact, no one else has even just a single loss in competition against other region teams.  But 2-8 feels increasingly like you could throw them in a hat and pick an order.  That continued to show this week as Barren County avenged a loss to South Warren, but fell to Franklin-Simpson.  Greenwood and South Warren have split, Allen County-Scottsville has split with Barren County, lost to Greenwood, and beaten Clinton County, while Warren Central fell to Barren County but owns double digit wins over Allen County-Scottsville, Greenwood, and South Warren.  It feels like anything can happen in this group.  beyond them, Russell County and Metcalfe County feel like a tier, followed by the 11-15 grouping.  The only thing certain beyond Bowling Green at #1 is Monroe County and Todd County Central at #16 and #17, respectively.

-Bowling Green's torrid pace of games has slowed down, as they've played just two games in the last fifteen days.  They suffered just their second loss of the year in falling at home to BGP #1 Ballard.  It was the first loss at home under head coach DG Sherrill since 2015 (he took three seasons off in the interim).  If their schedule holds, they'll rev back up with seven games in the next nine days.  It's an ambitious close to their year in terms of games, and five of them will come at home, the site of their district tournament.

-Clinton County boasts the region's best record, and they're making an impressive run in the All "A" State Tournament.  After winning a tight 64-60 contest against Owensboro Catholic, they knocked off Murray in overtime 70-56.  They'll meet the winner of Evangel Christian and Somerset on March 5th for a berth in the All A State Championship. The Bulldogs don't win in the prettiest fashion, averaging only an eight point margin of victory, but they play lockdown defense, holding opponents to fewer than 53 a game.  Given the extreme likelihood they'll advance to the region tournament, they're a very good pick as a region sleeper.

-Barren County's lone win of the week came in very dramatic fashion.  The Trojans trailed by two on the road against South Warren, with fewer than 30 seconds remaining.  They forced a turnover at halfcourt, hit a driving layup, and then forced another turnover to set up Taye Poynter for a roughly 30 foot three pointer at the buzzer for the victory.  Poynter was a good choice for the situation - he has hit almost 50% of the shots from three for Barren County this season.  They're scheduled for a big matchup with Clinton County on Thursday, but that may not happen with the All "A" scheduled the next day.

-Aside from that potential Barren County/Clinton County tilt, the game to watch this week might be #1 Bowling Green at #3 Allen County-Scottsville.  Bowling Green has mowed down every region team this year, including wins over the #2, #5, #7, and #8 teams in the rankings.  None were closer than 12 points.  AC/S will be fully rested while Bowling Green will be in the middle of a three game in three night stretch.  As far as opportunities for David against Goliath go, this isn't a bad one.  Bowling Green has won 14 in a row against the Patriots.

Take them games as a blessing. Warren Central has been having time finding games from what im hearing gonna finish the regular season with 14 games.If they play rest of games of season with no more interruptions

They are a young team but the 2 SRs on that team its heartbreaking they couldn't find games for these SRs to gain exposer 

South has been on a tear and gaining momentum getting ready for postseason

Greenwood is playing to their potential and staying close with some heavy hitters they will be force to be reckon with  

BG,Greenwood,South warren will end up with 20+ games and Warren east and Warren central will end up with 14 games majority of them being home games going into the district with a lot of unknowns most teams have only played each other once due to COVID.

This year has been a difficult time for sports just glad to see them play ball but I really feel for the SR that didn't get that SR YEAR type of feel hope it doesn't cost some kids some scholarships due to lack of exposer and COLLEGE recruiting was basically limited to just film. But again cant wait for the district and region tournament's as district 14 will be a toss up for the 2nd team going to region I think BG is a given playing on their home floor and the talent level I really do with some adjustments from Coach Sherrell that they can really contend for a championship.

But in a couple years I think WC will be dominate when the SOPHMORES mature they are so talented from the game I saw bright future in the 4th region for sure.

The district pairings are actually the same for both the boys and girls sides.  Bowling Green vs. South Warren/Warren East winner (with South as the 4 in the boys and East the 4 in the girls), and Warren Central vs. Greenwood in the 2/3 (with WC as the 2 in both). 

And yes, the format of region is unchanged in terms of who goes, but there are changes in terms of location and scheduling.  The district winners in the draw will host district runners-up at 3PM on Sunday March 21st.  It will then move to Diddle the next three days.  One semifinal played on Monday at 6 PM, the other on Tuesday at 6 PM, and then the finals on Wednesday the 24th at 6PM.  I'm not a huge fan of the unbalanced setup for the semifinals - I would consider it highly desirable to be in the top half of the bracket, this year more than any other.
