Good therapy win for our Mustangs on the road Tuesday night in Vanceburg, after earlier in the day losing the services of our point guard and leading scorer, Senior Stephen Verst, to a broken radial bone in his elbow, sustained Monday night at home vs Pendleton County.

Carson Schirmer joined the Brossart 1,000 Points Club in the first quarter when he collected his seventh point, en-route to 23 on the night.

Brossart led 16-15 after a quarter and 31-26 at the halt, but fell behind by 10 points at 45-35 late in the third period.  We were able to whittle that margin back to 5 with 8 minutes to play in the game.  Down the stretch the Lions took the lead 57-55, which was immediately answered by a 3-pointer by Robbie Verst, giving the Mustangs the road win.

Carson Schirmer led all scorers with 23, David Govan added 14, and Mason Sepate 13.  On the night the Mustangs dropped in 8 3-pointers.

Schirmer and Sepate nailed three 3-pointers apeice.

Logan Liles paced the Lions who are ow 8-8 on the season with 17 points.  Trey Gerike added 16.

The Mustangs get a much needed day of practice on Wednesday before hosting Harrison County on Thursday and Scott on Friday.

Sounds like Brossart can’t catch a break with injuries/Covid.  Wishing a quick recovery to Stephen.  @Mustang have they had everyone back at the same time yet?

Considering 100% to be Stephen and Robbie Verst, Schirmer, Govan, Sepate, Clines and Smorey, plus our varsity sophomores, that answer would be no.

The closest we would have come would have been the first quarter vs Bourbon County before Govan re-injured his ankle.

Ironically, last year's team which went 25-7 NEVER had a starter miss a start.
