6th Region after week 5

EVERYONE is now in action - so we can finally start to see the real contenders in the region - let's take a look at what's going on in the 6th Region!

1. Fern Creek (Last Seasons Champion) (4-0)  The Preseason Region #1 Tigers didn't disappoint, starting the season 4-0 with victories over Central, Greenwood, Southern, and a well respected J-town.  Jr Darian Lewis has led the Tigers (15.5p) thru 3 games, but FC has a loaded roster and as many as 7 players could lead the team on a given night.  They have a HUGE match-up on Wed (2/10) hosting Ballard in a match-up of JCPS heavyweights.

2. DeSales (8-3)   The Colts had a light week, only playing and defeating Western 68-34. The trio of Seniors Sekou Kalle (20p/11r)  Devin Perry (17p)  and so. Keith Robinson (13p) continue to lead the team.  The Colts return to the court Tuesday, hosting Male in yet another great match-up!

3. Doss (3-0)  The Dragons have started STRONG - 3 blow out victories over Iroquois, Atherton, and Valley.  Senior Tony Moss has led Doss this first week (18p 8r) but they have a talented and deep roster, with sr. Jeremiah Glover and jr. Inslee Carroll both averaging double digits (10p).  Up next for Doss is Western in a big district matchup on 2/9

4. PRP (2-2)  The Panthers had a busy first week - victories over HFC and Beth Haven - losses to#1 Male (who they led at halftime)  and Seneca.  Super Soph Zee McCown leads the Panthers (16.5p).  They next travel to Bullitt East on Tuesday 2/9.

5. Butler (1-1)  Butler started the season with a tough loss vs. Manual (78-71), but rebounded with a win over North Oldham (58-45)  Sr. Taevon Dozier (16p) and jr. Chance Garner (13p) are pacing the Bears.  They travel to Fairdale Mon. night (2/8)

6. Bullitt East (7-3)  Bullitt East went 3-0 this week, defeating J-town, North Bullitt and Fairdale.  The Blanford's, Sr. Will (16p) and jr. Tucker (14p)  are pacing the Chargers.  Their next opponent will be Tuesday (2/9) hosting PRP 

7. Jeffersontown (1-2)  The Chargers have gotten off to a slowish start.  They had to play a tough Bullitt East squad, who had 7 games under their belt first - losing 47-34.  Then they split games with Waggener and Fern Creek.  On 2/9 - J-town hosts a tough Seneca squad. (no stats on record)

8. Western (2-1)  Western lost to a well regarded DeSales team 68-34, but had victories over Brown and Moore.  They host Central on Monday night. (No stats on record)

9. Southern (1-1)  The Trojans started the week strongly, defeating Evangel 83-59, but lost on Friday to Fern Creek 97-68.  Sr.'s Camden Pfeister (18.5p) and Evan Frederick (17.5p) lead the Southern attack.  They travel to Collegiate on 2/8.

10. Evangel (4-6)  The Eagles split games this week - losing to Southern 83-59, but bouncing back to get a nice win over Central 66-61. So. Dawson Black continues to lead Evangel in scoring (20p) and 8th grader Ben Tshaka is at 10p.  They get back to action on 2/8 hosting Madison Central.

11. Holy Cross (8-2) The Cougars of HC had a great week - going 3-0 with victories over Highlands Latin, Beth Haven and Bullitt Central.  Fr F Jacob Hand is leading HC in scoring (17p).  They next play at Whitefield on 2/11.

12. Beth Haven (9-4)  The Bears started the week with a win over Frankfort Christian, but then lost to Holy Cross 81-74 and PRP 96-67.  Jr. Luka Mateski continues to pace Beth Haven (22.6p/9.4r) and sr. Luke Easley is averaging 15 a game.  They host Highlands Latin on 2/9.

13. Iroquois (1-1)  Iroquois started with a loss to Doss (68-40), but rebounded with a 7 pt. win at Fairdale (56-49).  Jr. Jordan Williamson is leading the Raiders in scoring (12.5p)  They next play at home vs. Butler on 2/9.

14. Bullitt Central (4-7)  BC started the week off with wins over Moore and Whitefield before losing to Holy Cross 65-54.  Sr. Gavin Hedges (17.5p) and jr. Hunter Coleman (16.6p) continue to lead the Cougars.  They play again on 2/9 vs. North Hardin.

15. Valley (1-2)  The Vikings started off the season with a nice win over district rival Fairdale, but had two big losses verses heavyweights Doss and Ballard.  Sr. Armani Carr leads the team in scoring (12p).  Next up is Waggener on 2/9.

16. Moore (0-2)  The Mustangs started the season with losses to Bullitt Central and Western. Sr. Darius Carver (14p) is leading the team in scoring. They play @ Southern in a district matchup on Tuesday 2/9.

17. Fairdale (0-3)  The Bulldogs have started slow, with losses this week to Valley, Iroquois, and Bullitt East.  Fr. Jacob Tucker is pacing the team (13.5p)  They next host Butler on 2/8.

18. North Bullitt (1-9)  North Bullitt lost their only game this week (@ Grayson Co). Jr Dalton Geary (13.4p) is pacing the Eagles.  They host Meade Co. on Tuesday 2/9.

19. Whitefield Academy (0-6)  The Wildcats lost games to Bullitt Central and Highlands Latin this week. Sr. guard Nicholas Flores paces the Wildcats (11p). They next host Henry Co. on 2/8.

I was impressed with DeSales. If Fern Creek is better, they must be very good.

I’m intrigued with Doss. They destroyed their first 3 opponents. Will be interested in how they do against the better teams in region.

I haven't seen either in person yet, but FC is just so deep.  I've heard DeSales doesn't have much of a bench, so I'm giving FC the nod....for now

I like this opponent upgrade for Doss.
