Oldham County 72 Seneca 63

Final from Buckner.

Oldham improves to 4-1.   Seneca falls to 1-2 (losses by 1 to St. X and 9 to Oldham)

Great game.    Oldham led nearly all the game (I would conservatively guess that Oldham led 28 of the 32 minutes, maybe 29), but Seneca never quit fighting, and kept rallying from double-digit deficits.

Oldham had a 31-20 lead in the second, but the Redhawks went on an 8-0 run to cut it to 31-28, and the Colonels settled for a 36-32 halftime advantage.

Oldham later pushed it out to 20 at 70-50 midway through the fourth, but Seneca again rallied behind their "quick hands" defense for a 10-0 run that cut the margin in half and the Colonels' advantage hovered around the 10 point mark the rest of the way.

Seneca lived / died by their defense.   The Redhawks were horribly outsized by the Colonels at every position, but were often were able to compensate with their quick hands.   However, despite forcing the Colonels into a season-high 24 turnovers (unofficialliy), the tradeoff was that the Redhawks committed a tremendous number of fouls.   Oldham was in the double-bonus in the first half in the final minute of the first quarter......   OC wound up shooting a ton of free throws, and the Colonels are a superb FT shooting team.   They hit 79% at the stripe on the night.

Good win for OC. I think Seneca will improve as get more practice time.
