Notes
-With Bowling Green off for the week, the spotlight fell on the three teams behind them, and the pecking order for those three appears to be secure, at least as of this moment.  Warren Central had a big week, blowing the doors off of Allen County-Scottsville by 30 and Greenwood by 22.  The Dragons went 25/56 (45%) from three in the two games, accounting for more than half of their points from the perimeter.  The score doesn't tell the whole story from the game against ACS as the Patriots were without leading scorer Mason Shirley (21.2 PPG), but it was still and impressive margin.  Given that the first game is all that matters for seeding this year, the win over Greenwood - despite being their only district game so far - likely all but assures Warren Central a top two seed in the district tournament.

-Meanwhile, ACS rebounded from that tough loss to Central to win at the buzzer on the road against Clinton County.  The Patriots tried to run away with the game multiple times, but found themselves coming out of a timeout at 59 all against the Bulldogs.  Mason Shirley had 13 points and 13 assists for ACS, but he fouled out prior to this point.  Second leading scorer Jax Cooper added the last two of his team-high 14 points with a game-winning shot with 13 seconds left.  It was Clinton County's first loss of the year after a 7-0 start, leaving Bowling Green the region's last unbeaten at 4-0.

-Terrible news came this week for Barren County as it became official that team star and one of the best players in the region Aden Nyekan will miss the rest of the year after suffering a torn ACL.  Nyekan averaged 18 PPG in his four contests, which is more like 3.25 games given his injury in his final game.  It's a devastating blow to a Trojan team that was seen by many as possibly the only serious challenger to Bowling Green outside the 14th District.  They'll remain a dark horse for a region final run.

-It's early, but with only the first matchup determining seeding this year, we already have a lot of information on postseason matchups.  Glasgow will visit Monroe County on Tuesday in what will cement the 15th District postseason matchups if the Scotties get the victory.  Allen County-Scottsville has already wrapped up the top seed in the district by beating all three other teams in their first matchup, and Barren County has already knocked off Monroe County.  A Glasgow win will guarantee them at worst the 3 seed, matching them against Barren County in the postseason.  If Monroe gets the win on Tuesday, then Glasgow would need a victory over Barren County to force a three-way tie for second.

-The 13th District's matchups are set.  Franklin-Simpson is 2-0 with wins over Logan County and Russellville, and only a game against Todd County Central remaining.  By virtue of tiebreakers, that's going to give them the #1 seed.  As Todd County Central is 0-2 with losses to Logan County and Russellville, that will lock them into the #4 seed by virtue of any possible tiebreaker, leaving them to play Franklin-Simpson and the clash of the Cats between Logan County and Russellville.

-Clinton County will look to clinch the #1 seed in the 16th District with a win on Thursday against Metcalfe County, who has yet to play a district game.  If the Metcalfe wins, then that district likely comes down to Metcalfe's matchup with Russell County on February 2nd.

-Meanwhile, the 14th is miles away from being determined, but as mentioned before, logically, we can expect that Bowling Green will be #1, Warren Central #2, Greenwood #3, and South Warren and Warren East will meet in the 4/5 game.  But that won't be for sure for a little while.

Really hate that for Barren County's Aden Nyekan.

Young man is a super player.  I hope he can come back next year, his senior year and have a great campaign.

Also hoping the Purples can finally make it back on the court.  What a crazy year!
