Sponsored divisions? Why not?

The Discover Central Division:

  • Carolina
  • Chicago
  • Columbus
  • Dallas
  • Detroit
  • Florida
  • Nashville
  • Tampa Bay

The Mass/Mutual East:

  • Boston
  • Buffalo
  • New Jersey
  • NY Islanders
  • NY Rangers
  • Philadelphia
  • Pittsburgh
  • Washington

The Honda West:

  • Anaheim
  • Arizona
  • Colorado
  • Los Angeles
  • Minnesota
  • San Jose
  • St. Louis
  • Vegas

The Scotia North:

  • Calgary
  • Edmonton
  • Montreal
  • Ottawa
  • Toronto
  • Vancouver
  • Winnipeg

This was done for Covid, but I suspect this may be a done deal going forward with Seattle being the lone US team in the Scotia North next year.

For this season, anyway, each team will only play 8 games against each of their division rivals during the regular season. They will primarily play a 2 game series when a team visits their opponents location to reduce exposure.

Chicago, who played in Tampa last night, will play the Bolts again on Friday night in Amalie Arena.

I don't know how they are going to work this, but Dallas postponed their first 3 games due to a Covid outbreak last week. That includes the first of 2 games in Tampa, the Sunday game. Dallas will open their season against the Lightning on Tuesday night.

I hate that Vegas got imported into Colorado's division.

With the Bolts not allowing fans to attend the games and Fox pulling it's channels from YouTube TV, the lone sport that I care to watch anymore is all but unavailable to me. When Fox decides to stream on its own, I will subscribe, but I am not switching to their desired provider AT&T just to watch.
