7th Region week 1 review.

 Out of the 18 schools only 6 played this week due to public schools and a couple of private schools not starting yet, so this review will be rather short compared to later in the season.

1. Ballard (0-0)

2. Male (0-0)

3. Eastern (0-0)

4. Trinity (1-1)

Trinity opened the season with 73-56 defeat of Bardstown. Ethan Hodge led with 25 points and Zach Stahlman led on the boards with 9 rebounds.

Trinity in the 2nd game lost to South Laurel 62-61 on a buzzer beater. The Shamrocks were down by 16 at end of 3Q, but they employed a ferocious press to climb out of the hole before falling by one. Trinity was led by Ethan Hodge's 14 points. Will McMillian led on the boards with 5 rebounds.

Trinity plays DeSales at home on 1/12.

5. Seneca (0-0)

6. St. Xavier (2-0)

St. X opened the season with a 81-45 defeat of Collegiate. The Tigers were led by Bellarmine commit Ayden Mudd's 21 points and Mekhi Smith's 18 points. Ayden Mudd also led the Tigers with 7 rebounds.

St. X in the 2nd game defeated Lincoln County 61-51. The Tigers trailed about midway through the 4th quarter but played well to pull away the last half of the quarter. The Tigers were led by John Carroll who scored 21 points and sank 14 of 15 free throws. Mekhi Smith led the Tigers on the boards with 13 rebounds.

St. X plays Walton-Verona at home on 1/13.

7. Manual (0-0)

8. Waggener (0-0)

9. Christian Academy (2-1)

Christian Academy opened with a 90-56 defeat of Bethlehem. George Washington led the Centurions with 23 points and Stephen Wearsch's 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Christian Academy in their 2nd game lost a high scoring game 86-85. No stat report available.

Christian Academy in their 3rd game rebounded with a 73-63 win over Newport Central Catholic. No stat report available.

Christian Academy plays Bullitt East at home on 1/12.

10.Central (0-0)

11. Atherton (0-0)

12. Collegiate (0-1)

Collegiate opened with a 81-45 loss to St. X. Collegiate was led by Reece Holbrook with 9 points and Cole Thompson with 8 points. Keith Brown and Woodford Ragland led the boards with each grabbing 5 rebounds.

Collegiate will play North Hardin at home on 1/11. 

13. Portland Christian (2-0)

Portland Christian opened with a 92-29 win over Covington Latin. No stat report available.

Portland Christian in their 2nd game out lasted KY Country Day 52-51. No stat report available.

Portland Christian plays Beth Haven on 1/14 in the 6th region All "A" Classic.

14. Kentucky Country Day (0-2)

KCD opened with a 68-64 loss to Louisville Holy Cross. KCD was led by Nicholas Roemer with 22 points and 15 rebounds.

KCD in 2nd game lost 52-51 to Portland Christian. No stat report available.

KCD will play at St. Francis on 1/12.

16. Walden (0-0)

Walden plays North Bullitt at home on 1/14.

17. Brown (0-0)

18. Saint Francis (0-0)

St. Francis plays KY Country Day at home on 1/12.

It should....but Jefferson County Public Schools have been unlike any other system.   Unlike the many other systems that are shut down, JCPS really hasn't given a "start" date, as I understand it....
