Corbin vs. South Laurel

I just read your column and liked it a lot. Keep up the good work Les.

I also think that guard play is going to be the deciding factor. That along with post play I think play against the Hounds. Manns will have to have a big game and Crawford will need to get Corbin some points in the paint. As you said, South has tremendous guards and gets crazy pressure on the opposing teams. Corbin needs to stay relaxed and not try to make those cross court passes like they did last year. I swear up at South, Corbin probably had 20 turnovers alone by trying those passes. The hounds just need to play smart, make good decisions, and let Crawford go to work and try to get them in foul trouble. That will open up the rest of the team.

You hit the nail on the head.

The guards MUST make good decision...that's the key and I believe Manns could play a vitale role tonight. Just because of his size and agressiveness in the paint. He could get somebody in some foul trouble.

And thank you for nice compliment.

How is Crawford coming into the game. Is he 100%?

I thought that his mobility in the Knoxville Catholic game was better than in any other game that I had seen this year, but still not 100%.

I see it being a low 70's to mid 60's type game but wouldn't be surprised if it's an IU vs. UK type game in the 50's.

Maybe Corbin is going to get back to the Runnin' Redhound days and really get after the Cards tonight by pressing, trapping and fast breaking. The Hounds may have a lot of steam to blow off after a couple of hard days worth of final exams and playing this style might be one way to do it. You know that they claim that teams that press don't like to be pressed. Will that theory get put to the test tonight?

I'd like for it to be.
