The mister saw one eating something on a gold course in Florida. As he crept closer to get a picture he just missed stepping on an alligator, who fortunately slipped into a lake.

 

I have only seen one in the wild once. We were sitting on the beach at Hilton Head and one flew overhead. Magnificent birds!
