February 16, 20206 yr Just a few honest questions about the Bible: Are the miracles from the Bible supposed to be taken literal? What things from the old testament are supposed to be ignored? Why does the Bible single out certain sins but says nothing about things like rape and slavery? Yes, the miracles in the Bible are supposed to be seen as real and actual events. Christians are not to follow the Old Testament, the OT Law is the source of the Doctrine of Judaism. There are OT Laws that are repeated in the New Testament and Christianity considers that to be sound doctrine. For example, when looking at the Ten Commandments, 9 of the 10 are also mentioned in the New Testament so Christians follow those 9. Another example would be the dietary laws. Jews continue to obey the dietary laws but Christians do not because they are not repeated in the New Testament. Rape is mentioned pretty explicitly in the Old Testament and is mentioned in the New Testament in a general way. Slavery is mentioned in both the OT and NT.
