Central rallied from an eight point deficit in the fourth quarter, tying the game for the first time since the middle of the third quarter on two Dre Boyd free throws with ten seconds left. Ben Carroll missed a fallaway jumper from 17 feet off the front rim at the regulation buzzer. After an empty Greenwood possession to open overtime, Jaiden Lawrence knocked down a three pointer from the left wing to give Central the lead for good. They hit another three pointer before finishing out with six free throws in the extra session. Greenwood managed only one field goal, that coming with five seconds remaining to make it a five point game at that point.

 

Both Ben Carroll and Dre Boyd had 25 points to lead their teams. Central has been really struggling with their outside shot lately, but found it in their critical run late. Boyd hit a three to cut a six point deficit in half. Noah Stansbury missed a pair of free throws for Greenwood (an extreme rarity) at 57-53, and then Jaiden Lawrence hit a three to cut it to one. Then the aforementioned pair of threes in overtime.

 

This was an extremely important game, for both teams. For Greenwood, they dropped their first district game at home this season, and now will require help to stay in the hunt for the top seed in the district. They'll need Bowling Green to drop a game to someone, and then they can get back into at least a tie by sweeping the rest of the games on their schedule. For Central, it keeps them in control of their own destiny. Win out, and they will be the district's top seed. Their trip to South Warren on Tuesday is their lone road game left in district play.
