North led at the half, 30-19.

The Mustangs blew it open with tremendous shooting in the second half, and won with a running clock, 74-31.

The 74 points was the most score against Anderson County this year. The previous high was 59 points scored by Perry County Central.

The 31 points was the fewest scored by the Bearcats this year.

Anderson ran their standard man-to-man defense the entire game; North shredded it. The Mustangs repeatedly got wide-open looks from both the inside and outside. As a result, North shot around 50% overall, and hit 11 of 20 (unofficially) from beyond the arc. Mustangs' scoring was well-balanced, and the Mustangs played 14 players.

North finished 28 of 50 for 56% from the floor, including 12 of 22 officially beyond the arc. The Mustangs were 6 of 7 at the line.

Tyler Higdon led the way with 13 points and 10 rebounds officially.

The 50 field goal attempts is an important stat - Woodford and Gallatin had just beaten Anderson in back-to-back games, but neither took over 35 shots (!) in their respective matchups. North was able to get up a decent number of attempts against the state's top scoring defense, which was extremely key to their win.

North has a big road game this Friday against #13 Oldham County in a critical district matchup. A win by Oldham County gives the Colonels the #1 seed in the 29th district and means that North Oldham would be destined to play arch-rival South Oldham in the first round elimination game of the 29th district tournament.

Anderson County, which has now lost three straight, will face two strong opponents in its next two contests as the Bearcats try to break out of the skid. First up is #5-ranked Collins - a district rival - this Friday. The Cats get a week off before playing the top-ranked team in the 12th Region, the Somerset Briarjumpers on the 31st. Both games are on the road.
