Diamond Dandy
This is not World War II, where there were distinct battle lines, a uniformed enemy, and obvious targets of military importance such as arms factories. Iraq is nothing like that. NOTHING. The enemy dresses as civilians, hides among innocents, has no problem killing large numbers of innocents to stir up the population, and attacks our forces with roadside bombs, booby traps, and guerilla tactics. There isn't even one cohesive enemy. If we have been 'just messing around' for the last three years, if we have not been fighting to win, the American public deserve an answer from Mr. Bush. That, of course, is not what has been happening. Our military has done just about everything within its capability. It's easy to say 'we should stay until the job is done' or some other simple platitude. But what we have been doing clearly has not been working. Please tell me what we should be doing to win the fight that we haven't been doing. Have you heard a plan from the Republicans yet ? I have been waiting for 4 years and I haven't seen one yet....except for them to ask the Dems, "what's your plan".
Habib
This is not World War II, where there were distinct battle lines, a uniformed enemy, and obvious targets of military importance such as arms factories. Iraq is nothing like that. NOTHING. I agree, I never said it was. The enemy dresses as civilians, hides among innocents, has no problem killing large numbers of innocents to stir up the population, and attacks our forces with roadside bombs, booby traps, and guerilla tactics. There isn't even one cohesive enemy. That is why it isn't easy, but again, I never said it was. If we have been 'just messing around' for the last three years, if we have not been fighting to win, the American public deserve an answer from Mr. Bush. That and a new strategy. But, I didn't say we havn't been fighting to win. We have been fighting to win but our strategy has been considerably ineffective and Bush has been very stubborn about seeking a solution. That, of course, is not what has been happening. Our military has done just about everything within its capability. They have done an incredible job considering the task. It's easy to say 'we should stay until the job is done' or some other simple platitude. But what we have been doing clearly has not been working. Again, I never said 'we should stay until the job is done.' I said this is not a "cut and run" or "stay the course" debate, it is much more complicated than that. I think we need to work on a new strategy and get something done before we just pull out. Please tell me what we should be doing to win the fight that we haven't been doing. I made a thread about it a few weeks ago.

Pointing fingers at parties is not going to change anything in Iraq.

Unfortunately, some terrorist fractions have taken advantage of the opportunity to kill Amerian soliders.
