Mason Co. 80 Ripley 48

Recommended Posts

This according to today's Maysville paper (which isn't always reliable with respect to scoring stats - the headline says Mason County 80, Ripley 48):

Ripley 13 10 9 17 - 49

Mason County 23 12 25 20 - 80

R(49): Cales 0 4 4, H. Pfeffer 4 1 11, J. Pfeffer 3 2 8, Spradling 3 0 7, Siegel 1 0 2, Jackson 3 0 6. Totals 19 7 49.

MC(80): D. Chambers 7 3 17, Cline 6 1 13, Litzinger 6 3 17, T. Chambers 8 1 17, K. Menke 5 1 12, Hale 1 2 4. Totals 33 11 80.

Looks like even in a blowout, Mason County only has 6 hit the scoring column. That's okay against Holy Cross and Ripley, but not Montgomery County, Paris, Brossart, and any other number of 10th region opponents.

Props to Desarae Chambers, who passed Angie Garrett as Mason County's all-time leading scorer IN HER SECOND GAME AS A JUNIOR!!

You must take it into consideration that they only have eight players dress varsity!

Exactly what I've been saying for the past two seasons. The Royals' starting 5, even with K. Menke filling in for Reese, is quick and athletic. The bench is another story, and needs much improvement as well as additional numbers to challenge for the region title this year.
