Warren County Lacrosse

Featured Replies

I’m a big advocate on growing lacrosse in Kentucky and especially in the Warren County area. Greenwood has previously had a lacrosse team and they’re creating a girls team this year, which should mean a boys team to follow. With the growth of it in the area, South and BG have had some packed games and it seems to be really catching on in the area. The other county schools are taking notice and it seems that they’re hopping on the trend. Hopefully sanctioning will come in the near future. Bowling Green has been nothing but supportive of their lacrosse team and it has really allowed us to grow the team, they have stopped treating it like a club and treat it like any other sport. Although, I’m not sure about South Warrens school support, their coach Nick Peters has also done great things for the sport in this area. It may be a huge rivalry, but the way the community has come together to push the growth of lacrosse in the area is beautiful.

Not only are the schools hopping on, the recreational league has nearly 40 kids playing. It seems to finally be catching on here and I can’t wait to see where it leads!

If the Bowling Green hockey community embraces lacrosse then that will go a long way. Bowling Green has some strong hockey (roller and ice) and the cross-over to lacrosse is a natural.

V,

This is awesome! I'm an assistant girls lacrosse coach for Manual. We played BG last year! Great experience, great coaching staff and the girls really hustled and it was a great game! We are hoping to set up a round robin type event for next spring as well. Maybe we can add some of the Warren County teams, although Etown was my first thought as we've played them too.

I hope lacrosse continue to grow across the state! Its a great sport!

I agree, the reason I actually started playing lacrosse in highschool is because one of my best friends was a hockey player for Owensboro Rampage, but lived in BG. The sports go hand in hand.

I hope it does too! I’m actually involved with the BG boys lacrosse team, most of the players are relatively new so a lot of the Louisville teams are miles ahead of us. But hopefully with the continued growth in the Warren County area we’ll catch up eventually.

I’m sure the Warren county teams would love to play in a couple round robins, there aren’t many teams around here. The closest ones are Nashville and Etown.

V,

The one piece of advice I would throw your way here is to try to start some summer activity where you go to some nearby tournaments (Nashville, Cincy and etc.) Most of those tournaments have seperate divisions so you won't get blasted every game. When you start going to those and getting some wins, it changes things for the better IMO. At least it has for my daughters teams! Good luck!
