Barren County

Featured Replies

Barren Co is new to the district and I don't know much about them. They put up some nice stats in their win last week. Has anyone seen them? If so, any chance they can compete with the Hardin schools and Meade? Thanks.

Lloyd,

Barren County was in BGs 5A district forever and has played BG alot. They were never competitive in that district and is the reason they jumped ship a year early (last year) in preparation to move to your 6A district (Central Hardin, North Hardin and Meade County).

While I do think they are vastly improved over the last teams BG played, I would not pick them over any of the 3 in their new district this year. They traveled to 2A Metcalfe County last week. I love the Hornets, but they are still a growing/developing and relatively young 2A squad who will need a couple games to get their legs under them. I'm not surprised by that 48-6 score as again I think Barren is improved, but how much.

Look at the schedules of those 4 district teams, all 3 non-Barren County teams have significantly more difficult schedules. Could those 3 take some non-district losses? Yes, but when they play Barren County, I look for all 3 Hardin County/Meade County teams to win. Will be fun to keep up with.

Thanks for the info. Our district is really tough this year. I'm looking for a game somewhere that doesn't keep me up at nights.
