February 24, 20197 yr Sergie Bobrovsky got his 2nd shutout in as many nights in an impressive win over the 2nd place team in the Pacific division, at Nationwide Arena. Boone Jenner opened the scoring, 8 minutes into the contest, and Matt Duchene scored his 1st goal as a Blue Jacket in the 2nd period. Cam Atkinson and Pierre-Luc Dubois also goaled for the Columbus. Columbus is now back in 3rd place in the Met, just 2 points behind Washington.
February 24, 20197 yr Author After the game, Columbus traded Anthony Duclair and second round picks in the 2020 and 2021 drafts to the Ottawa Senators for forward Ryan Dzingel. Dzingel, a 7th round draft pick of the Senators in 2011, has 22 goals and 22 assists for the Senators this season. Like Duchene, Dzingel becomes a free agent on July 1. It's becoming evident that the Blue Jackets are renting players to set themselves up for some kind of a Cup run or at least win their 1st playoff series. However, unlike Duchene, who as said he does not wish to re-sign with Columbus, Dzingel is excited to be back where he played his college hockey, at Ohio State. This may not be over either. Jacket GM Jarmo Kekalainen, may have more moves in mind before the deadline tomorrow night. He has said the he will not move Panarin for just draft picks and prospects. If he's making a run at the cup, he may want to hang on to that 1st line.
February 25, 20197 yr This may have been the Jackets most complete game of the season. If they consistently play like this (it's questionable) in April, they are a legitimate Cup contender.
