How good was Columbus' defense, last night in Nationwide Arena? Washington had only 7 shots on goal after 2 periods of play. Sergei Bobrovsky made 13 saves in the 3rd to complete the shutout.

 

Anthony Duclair got the Jackets on the board in the 2nd, Nick Folingo scored with 3:47 left in the game, and the Bread Man added an empty netter with 10 seconds left.

 

With the win, Columbus pulls within 2 points of the Capitals for second place in the Met.

This game surprised me for good reasons. The Jackets came out and imposed their will against the Caps. Tom Wilson delivered a crushing (but clean) hit to Josh Anderson and it seemed to galvanize the team. It's been a while since I've seen the Capitals look that anemic on offense and that had little to do with them playing a back-to-back game. The Jackets have rebounded nicely by winning 4 in a row.

 

I'm heading north next Monday to watch CBJ take on the Lightning and I'm looking forward to that one for sure.
