In Vancouver, the Bolts got their 9th win in the last 10 games and continued their streak of 10 games with at least one point in a game.

Vancouver decided that the their strategy would be to rough up Tampa Bay and see what that got them. The second period ended up being a fight fest and with 49 seconds to go in the period, all hell broke loose. By the time the smoke cleared the refs had assessed 5 penalties in the melee, 3 against the Lightning, 2 against the Canucks. In the second period as a whole, there was a game misconduct, two fighting majors and three roughing penalties assessed against Tampa Bay. Two Vancouver players were penalized for fighting, and four for roughing. Yanni Gourde got a fighting major and a game misconduct, meaning he got tossed.

Canucks coach Travis Green said. "This was a man's game out there tonight." Jon Cooper was like, eh. "I'm surprise by the animosity, but I like that we stood up for each other."

Nikita Kucherov opened the scoring with a one timer off a pass from Braydon Point with 11:20 to go in the first. A little over 30 seconds later, Tyler Motte answered for the Canucks, but 2 minutes after that, Cedric Paquette gave the Bolts the lead back. On the Paquette goal, Danick Martel, playing in only his second NHL game, got his first NHL point with the assist.

In the second, while Vancouver was going around picking fights instead of playing the puck, Adam Ernie scored giving Tampa Bay a 3-1 lead going into the 3rd.

In the final period, Christopher Tanev got Vancouver within 1, but Steven Stamkos answered for the Bolts. Ondrej Palat scored an empty netter to seal the deal.

Thursday night should be fun when the Lightning visit their 2nd division leader in a week against the top dog in the Pacific, the Flames in Calgary. There is a possibility that Gourde may be suspended for that one.
