swamprat
I hate back to backers and this one showed why. Coming into this game, Tampa Bay had won 12 straight regular season games over the Wings and had pretty much dominated them so far this season. Not so much this night. It was Nyquist-Nielsen night in Detroit. Red Wings Gustav Nyquist and Frans Nielsen lead Detroit to a 2-0 advantage after 1 period. Mathieu Joseph score twice to tie it for the Bolts early in second, but fell behind again when Nielsen scored his second goal of the night. Steven Stamkos tied it backup, but Nielsen completed a hat trick and Tampa Bay trailed 4-3 going into the third. Nyquist extended the Wings' lead to 5-3 early in the 3rd on his second goal of the game. J.T. Miller got one back with a little under 10 minutes left in regulation, then Cedric Paquette scored a short handed goal on a Detroit power play with a little over 5 minutes to go. Regulation and overtime ended with score tied, so the game when to a shoot out. Victor Hedman gave the Lightning the advantage in the shoot out and Nikita Kucherov finished it off (2-1). Eddie Pasquale made his NHL debut at goalie, making 2 great saves in the shoot out to get the win.
Run To State
Pasquale was a bit underwhelming except for the shootout.
