Russell lost a lot of seniors off last years team and points, this Russell team is young in varsity experience. Only 2 starters back.

It was:

17-8 Russell after 1 quarter.

30-18 Russell halftime

43-32 Russell end of the 3rd quarter.

And 57 all at the end of regulation.

Greenup out scores Russell 25-14 in the 4th.

Congratulations to Greenup County on the Win. Russell has lost the last 11 now to Greenup. Brady Bell looks to be a good player for Russell as a frosh.

Tough loss for Russell. They controlled the game for large chunks, but Greenup battled back with a huge fourth period that featured some clutch shooting from the Musketeers. Russell's youth showed late in regulation and overtime. Gotta give the other guys credit, though. They hung around and played their best basketball late.

Eleven straight wins now for Greenup in this rivalry.

The potential is there for this Russell team to be pretty good this year. I believe in Coach Groves' ability to coach these guys. They just need more game experience as a group.

The greenhouse is a tough place to open the season as well. Russell should get a game or 2 in before playing Greenup each year IMO. I think that helps to have that early game experience before playing a seed game in the 63rd.

I agree DMC, This Russell team has potential to be a good team. I would say not region championship good, but they could make the tournament this year and win a game or 2 depending on draws.
