FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 15, 2018

Sixty-Eight (68) KHSAA member schools have been identified as having zero disqualified players or coaches during the 2017-18 school year following a final review of the available data. With 596 disqualifications reported last year in the sports of Baseball, Basketball, Field Hockey, Football, Soccer, Softball, Volleyball and Wrestling; the level of sportsmanship displayed by the 68 member schools becomes all the more impressive. Many of these schools were recognized at the KHSAA Annual Meeting of the membership in September, with additional schools recognized following an audit of disqualification data in October.

“In this day when it is more and more difficult to recruit and retain officials and where conduct expectations in everyday conversation appear to be subpar, it is great that we can recognize these schools for modeling that sportsmanship and good behavior are important,” said KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett. “Displaying good sportsmanship on the field or court, when tensions can sometimes be overblown and over-exaggerated, makes this a great feat for each of the schools.”

Bragging on my Shamrocks, I believe this is several years in a row for them. A few years ago, Trinity created the position of Sports Ministry under Stephen Thompkins. The intent of the position is to work with athletes and coaches in all sports to fulfill the schools mission to create " Men of Faith and Men of Character. Congratulations to all of the schools on the list. Congratulations to Coach Thompkins.

LOL

Pike Central getting credit in the short term, but over the past ten years they have to be one of the biggest violators.

They have been in more brawls in the last ten years than any other school I have seen.

I know of at least two bench clearing football brawls, one baseball brawl, and if I am not mistaken they also had a nice tussle on the basketball court as well.
