Greyhounds captured their second straight District Title!

Paris Greyhounds come to Alexandria, hand the home-standing Brossart Mustangs their first shut out since August of 2013, as they win their second consecutive Class A, District 5 championship by a 28-0 score.

 

In what was a 7-0 game at the half with Paris on top, the Greyhounds put up 14 points in the first 1 minute and 7 seconds of the second half, by running back the kickoff 70 yards for a Lavonte Sanford touchdown. Following being pinned back at their own 20 yard line on the ensuing kick-off, an errant snap from center sent the pigskin into the end zone where the Greyhounds would recover it for their second TD in the young half, burying the Mustangs under a 21-0 deficit.

 

The Mustangs failed to penetrate the red zone on the night.

 

Paris scored a celebratory icing-on-the-cake touchdown with less than a minute remaining in the game, making the final score 28-0, and probably relegating the Mustangs to a bus trip to either Raceland or Paintsville for the opening round of the playoffs in three weeks.
