This is a program that's fallen on hard times. Very few players, and even fewer who show up regularly for practice. Coach Nevels is not regarded well at all by many of the players either. I'm not sure whether that's an issue with the coach, the players, or both. They also struggle with coaching staff. They only have 4 or maybe 5 coaches, I believe, and not all of them are necessarily the best at what they do - beginning with their offensive coordinator. I don't know what the answer is with the Dawgs, but I miss the competitive days when John Vandermeer was the head coach in the late 1990's.
