You knew it was going to be a bad day when your starting pitcher opens by hitting the lead-off batter, then walking the second batter, throwing 3 balls and 2 wild pitches in that at bat to advance the lead-off guy to 3rd. Follow that with a single and a homer, two batters later, and Tech was off an running. Reid Detmers stuck out 3, but he gave up 2 homers and 5 runs in a little over 2 innings of work.

 

You spot a ranked team 7 runs and chances are you are not coming back. Tech pitcher Davis Martin only struck out 1 batter, and only walked one, before being pulled in the 6th, but he only gave up 5 hits and 2 runs.

 

Tech wins the Regional.

UL did not their customary talent this year....no power and pitching suspect.
