2nd Region POY and all star selections

I saw where the POY was announced. Any comments on stats ect was shocked Shane Burns or Nolan Melton wasn't selected. Also I haven't seen any press on the all star selection or all 2nd region team as many regions have announced this.

Union County's Trey Hutchison it was announced via twitter among several sports writers as well as the UCHS athletic page.

He is pretty darn good as well.

2nd region coaches vote for this award and they see them more than the casual fans. I’m sure both Melton and Burns were high in the voting.

Did some research on Max Preps comparing the three mentioned players stats: Hutchison has region leading 57 hits, 46 runs, 31 stolen bases. 2nd in region with extra base hits with 17. He has played both center field and shortstop

Melton has region leading batting average @.520, slugging percentage and home runs with 8. He has 20 stolen bases and 21 extra base hits. He has played 2nd base this year.

Burns is 2nd in Region in ERA @ .62 with 5 wins. He is 2nd in region in strikeouts with 91. He has a .312 batting average with 6 extra base hits.

In addition to pitching, he also plays first base.

All three players with great numbers! Several others could have also been in the running like Jase Ryan Felker.

I think the Hutchison kid is good player. No disrespect ! I have watched all 3 play multiple times in the last 4 years. Melton has played way less games than Hutchison this year. Stats don't always speak the whole picture. Melton is explosive this year at the bat and he is great in the field also. Shane Burns is a beast. All 3 are very talented I also agree about the Felker kid he looks great this year..

I know these players and Hutchison would be my choice with Burns a very close second. Hutchison and Burns will be playing at Murray next year and Melton will be at Olney Central.
