Run To State Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Or next year. Allentown’s PPL Center has won the honor of hosting the Midwest Regional of the 2018 and 2019 NCAA men’s hockey tournament. How is Allentown in the Midwest? I really wanted to go again this year.
Getslow Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Hockey geography puts Allentown in the Midwest. South Dakota is the West. Minneapolis used to host the West regional all the time.

Pittsburgh would be in the Midwest, maybe. But Allentown is 93.2 miles from New York City. Heck, it's only 162.2 miles (a little over 2 and a half hrs drive) from Bridgeport Ct, where the East is being hosted. I don't care what they've done in the past, and it's fine if they award it to somewhere other than Cincy, but they've essentially given the East two events and the Midwest none.
Bluegrasscard Posted February 10, 2018 Posted February 10, 2018 When we played USA Hockey were in the 'Mid-America' region. The end of season Mid-Am championship was always in Pittsburgh. I noted to a local that we had a total of 7 sheets of ice in the state of Kentucky. Their response was that there there 7 sheets within a mile of where we were standing.

Yeah, Kentucky and the Cincy area just doesn't support hockey that well.
