Central played the best defensive game of the year tonight. They pressed full court most of the game(first time all year), and created a lot of turnovers. Not sure how many blocks Cozart had, but it had to be reaching the double digit mark. He had one in particular that left the gym abuzz. Male player was coming down the lane for the jam, above the rim and locked and loaded to flush it, Isaiah had other plans and got the block at the high point, I am sure as the Male player was already thinking about his celebration. The block was not only great looking, but lead to a breakout by Isaiah Minter for a pull up 3 ball. Forcing the opposition's pace of the game and creating turn overs were defiantly the way the night went on the defensive end for Central.

 

As great as the defensive end was, like in the Byran Station game, I saw something's that need to be ironed out. We need to shoot the ball from the outside more ( we don't have a pure shooter but are more then capable of making 3 point shots), and we need to slow down and make sure that we take advantage of every opportunity the defensive side of the ball gives us. I can think of at least 5-6 times were we forced a turnover or got a steal and went down on the other end and turned it over our self, or threw it away because we were going too fast. This are easy fixes and I think that they will get were they need to be come season end.

 

Over all, this was a good bounce back win on the road, against a tough out of region opponent, in Male.

 

But there is not rest for the weary as we travel to Scott Co. on Tuesday, for what I hope turns out to be a very good ballgame.

 

Cozart had 17 pts, but at the moment that is the only stat I have.:ohbrother:
