Lex-Herald's lack of vb coverage

Featured Replies

Anybody besides me notice that the Lex-Herald has nothing on volleyball districts other than Lafayette and Henry Clay?

The scores probably don't get reproted to the paper from coaches.

A newspaper that is the size of the LHL, covers the entire state... it's the job of the school/team to turn in the scores.

Why should they have to call them in.Do you think the football coaches call in their district playoff scores? NOT...it should be covered by the paper just like the boys sport. And that is what its all about. It's the girls and naturally their sport means nothing to the paper.

Even when they are called in they are put in where someone has to search to find them.

So you are expecting to have the Lexington Herald to go out and cover the entire state. I am afraid that they don't have enough employees to do that.

The LHL has one of the largest sports sections around... if people want high school volleyball scores in there... maybe they should call them in.

The LHL publishes their paper around 2:00 something in the morning... and they have a deadline.

Where did i say they had to cover the whole state. They could get their information from where most everyone else gets theirs.KHSAA scoreboard.

I once contacted a sports media (won't mention name) regarding covering Baseball more, similar to football. Their reply, from the sports director....

"Football is usually played on Friday's and it's much easier to cover one day, than to cover 4-5 days a week. We just simply don't have enough reporters, to cover the area".

I asked what if stories were submitted, would that help. "Not really, since you can't include articles to cover 50-60 games but you can box-scores. In tournament time, the coverage will be more"

Not actual quotes, but paraphrases of our conversation....
