You watch to try and find the holes in Bama's game because we are the standard in which you measure your Buckeyes. Typically if you match up well with Bama your team has a good chance at winning it all......NO OTHER TEAM IN THE COUNTRY CAN SAY THAT.

Oline not anywhere near sucking, they've done a very nice job.

 

Even Coach Saban has admitted that the oline has not played well the last few weeks. We can't run the ball consistently and we can't pass it consistently....most people generally believe that the line is the issue with that. I'm not saying Hurts is the savior, people that know me know that I hate the fact that he can't push the ball down the field.....but he has played extremely well against the best two teams that we have played so far.

You're a basketball guy. I eat, sleep, and breathe college football. My schedule on saturdays in the fall goes like this, get to the gym at 9:00 and take my iPad to stream college gameday, home by 11:30 and showered and on the couch to watch the noon games, I'm on the couch until at least the OSU game is over. If OSU plays at noon or 3:30 I'll probably go out with girlfriend saturday night, but if OSU plays at night there is no date night. I have every OSU, Bama, and Michigan game on DVR and will watch them sometime before Monday.

 

U sound like me. I watch Gameday then start watching at noon and usually go to bed around 1 am Sunday. 16 hours worth. In the winter, same way about college basketball.

Did you watch when Hurts checked out of the called play and made Ridley run the route to win the game? Were you watching when he was running for his life to throw the long pass down the sidelines after the oline continuously let MSU defenders through. Were you watching when he was scrambling to get the 4th down and 4 to basically save the game. What about the fact that the kid has 1 int on the year. You're not watching.

He's doing much more than his numbers are saying....even though he's putting up good numbers. He played well in the first two quarters. He played well against LSU. Our offensive line is the most underachieving unit on the team this year. Ridley is frustrated because he is open....the problem is Hurts is running for his life at the same time.

Your O line isn't nearly as bad as you're letting on. I'll give you that's it's not as good as it usually is, but it's still a strength of the team. Hurts isn't a bad QB, he just doesn't do anything special. He makes plays when his team needs him too and there is certainly something to be said for that, but he doesn't do it consistently. I've seen him miss his recievers on simple RPO screen passes to the outside. He continues to do enough for Bama to continue to win. They aren't winning because he is the QB. I don't see Hurts in any different of a light than I saw Blake Sims. Good QBs who make plays, but aren't going to put the team on their back to win games.

Nick Saban doesn't think anyone on his team has played well the last few weeks. That's how he is. The offense is averaging more yards per play than last year which is why I disagree that they suck. I do worry about how long Pierschbacher will be hampered.

As for Hurts, he just doesn't get rattled. His job is not to put the team on his back and carry it for an entire game. Bama wins with defense and the running game. When he has to make plays he more often than not makes them, whether it's with his feet or his arm.

Yep and there is something to be said for the type of player Hurts is. He doesn't lose you games and if he is asked he has shown the ability to make plays. He just doesn't do it all the time. I know it's tough to talk about but the best QB on Bamas team wears #13 and is Hawaiian. That dude is capable of putting the team on his back.

You have a good grasp on OSU football, but I follow Bama football 24hrs. Everybody in the program knows that our offensive line is not good at this point. Has nothing to do with injuries; we just mis-evaluated some kids and others just haven't panned out just yet. Which is why we can't run the ball consistently

We do win with running the ball and defense; but we can't run the ball right now and our defense is banged up. Which is why Hurts is bailing us out right now. If we can't run the ball ok against Auburn (nobody is gonna run is well against that d), then they are gonna kill us. We don't have the bodies to play defense the way we are accustomed to doing.

If you think your O line is that bad, you should just take a knee every snap against Auburn to avoid looking bad offensively. You already have a lock on the playoffs even with 1 loss, and you kill 2 birds with one stone you make the playoffs and OSU doesn't. Win-Win right? Haha
