Ryle 2 St Henry 1 (OT)

Featured Replies

I will leave it for the St Henry and Ryle fans to comment on the game. 3 goals all on penalties, the last in extra time.

PK called on the Cru, during the first minute of a 5 minute sudden death overtime. Game ended right then and there.

Congrats Crusaders on a great season! It sure was a fun ride! Good luck to all the seniors. You gave it your all both in the classroom and on the field over the last 4 years.

Man... Had it all set up for a repeat of 2014. Tower Park, had the chance to meet Cov Cath in the final. Blame CCH!

Such a tough way to go out, feel for the seniors. Hopefully they bounce back next year.

3 penalties and I didn't see one of them. That's what you get for looking away. By most reports (Ryle and St. Henry fans), the one in extra-time was EXTREMELY soft. That is a tough way to end your high school career.

Did the same reports say that the handling that got St. Henry into extra-time was EXTREMELY fortunate for the Cru? Ball travelling away from goal, defender turning away from ball, struck arm of defender on edge of penalty area with both feet out of the area? Technically a penalty but not one person would have argued if placed outside the area. Fair result overall in my neutral opinion - Ryle controlled first half and their attacks led to foul in area and the lead. St. Henry came out to play in the second half and put Ryle in defensive stance, missed a couple of sitters to tie and finally got that tie with the handling. Quickly decided in extra-time with what in my opinion was a foul that happened to occur in the penalty area. Center was in great position for all 3 penalties and decisively made the calls.

Not sure on the rules on calling a PK with the handling call but the foul in overtime was horrible. Not to take anything away from Ryle it was a good back and forth game. It was 50/50 ball and the Ryle player went down and the St Henry player did not. Those 50/50 balls happened all night with no calls and the center decides the game with that one. Just my opinion. Games this important shouldn't be decided on a 50/50 call. If you going to make that call and give a PK it should be obvious. Didn't see it with that one.

No. Ryle fan told me it was a handball and the first was a trip. No complaints with either of those.
