Nice district win for the Mustangs at home.

Defense came up big for the Mustangs, who liimited the Blue Jackets to one first down in the first half and three in the second half, prior to the 2s taking over.

The game had to feel like a Murphy's Law contest for the visitors who were plagued with bad field position throughout, and never got untracked.

A fumble/bad snap recovery in the first quarter gave the Mustangs the ball 1st and Goal from the six, leading to a Tyler MacDonald touchdown and Bryan Duffy PAT to lead 7-0 after one.

MacDonald connected with Bryce Donnelly on a 12 yard touchdown completion and Duffy PAT, pushing the lead out to 13-0 and then 14-0 when Duffy split the posts.

With 2:04 to go in the half, T-Mac again found Donnelly on a 10 yard TD toss, along with a Duffy PAT made it 21-0 at halftime.

Early in the second half MacDonald found Keller McGrath open for a 77 yard touchdown, but there was a flag on the play at mid-field. After conferring, the officials picked up the flag and T-Mac had his third passing touchdown of the night. Duffy knocked home the PAT - 28-0.

Later in the 3rd quarter Tyler MacDonald re-connected with Donnelly for a 27 yard score, rounding out the scoring in the ballgame.

MacDonald ran for a touchdown, and threw for four more.

Duffy knocked home four extra-points, and had one blocked.

Donnelly increases his school record scoring record with three touchdown receptions.

Unfortunately two players were injured for the Blue Jackets - Kody Campbell did not play in the second half due to concussion protocol, and Tyler Horn was sent to the hospital with a shoulder issue. We wish both speedy recoveries.

The Mustangs will take on 5-0 Ludlow next Friday night in the River City.

Played 3 horrible games on the road this year .... totally different team at home ... got to learn to take it on the road with them ...

@Bow88 referred to Brossart last night on update thread as "worse team"- don't agee with that - Brossart continues to put a competitive team on the field -with that being said looks like Nicholas co plays both Bracken co and Paris at home- so the Brossart faithful will count on the Bluejackets to win both of those games?

Didn't really mean any disrespect at all BF , should have phrased it a little different ... brossart is a solid team and knew they would be a handful ... just meant that we have played 3 better teams and won those ... just trying to figure us out ... i know that Brossart is not 34 points better than us but the way we played last night we made them look like it ... good luck the rest of the season Mustangs and just so you know I have been saying since the season was over last year that the district runs thru Brossart this year ...
