Wow! These two teams played absolute thrillers last season. Raceland lost several big time playmakers and where expecting a down year but seem to be coming along fairly better than expected. Do you think this team has a shot at beating Paintsville?

Where is all my Raceland people at? I know there aren't to many Paintsville people on here.

The poll seems to be moving a little but no comments.

Can they? Obviously so.

 

Will they? I personally don't think so. Paintsville IMO is a better team this year than last. Not saying that Raceland isn't, just think Paintsville has kept there gap or extended on it in terms of talent. This game is always fun to watch cause both teams take their play to another level against one another.

This rivalry has quietly blossomed into one of the best small school rivalries in EKY in recent years. Raceland had control of it for years, winning 8 in a row before Chirico took the reigns in Paintsville and turned the tide in the Tiger's favor.

 

The two games last year were very, very close. Raceland is more than capable of winning this year, but I'm afraid Paintsville might have one too many difference makers.

I agree. They are all over the other site. In regards to the question in the thread, yes, I think they can. Will they? That remains to be seen of course. As it stands right now, Paintsville is a little more explosive offensively, I believe and both defenses are top notch in their class. The match up this year, imo, will be more grind it out type of game. Right now I give Paintsville and or 2 td edge. But, that hinges on if Daniels gets back in the line up. I'm anxiousness see how Raceland performs against Valley tomorrow night and Somerset next week. That will tell us all more about what Raceland is made of. After those two games, I think we will know what we are going to be able to expect out of this rivalry

There will be plenty of good discussion to be had when Somerset rolls into town. That will be a great test for the Rams, and a great barometer of how they might measure up to Paintsville.

 

I'm not sure what Dalton Daniels' status is right now, but him being out is opening up more opportunities on offense for Tanner Smith and some of the younger guys like Phelps and Jaylyn Allen. I'm not sure if that's good or bad for Paintsville's opponents. They've got a lot of options in the running game.
