Best pitchers in the 12th region in 2007?

I would have been happy to have had the chance to play at Morehead...
There are much better options than Morehead in Kentucky. You probably would not have been too happy after you got there, by hearing players talk that have played there under the current staff. I think their record pretty well speaks for itself. I cant believe that the Morehead administration keeps letting them turn Morehead into a shambles.

I don't understand the shambles allegations, as they've played, competed and defeated several D1 programs this past season.

You may not like a particular coach, for personal reasons but they added a former player as a pitching coach, plus another assistant from the Reds organization.

There are various options and levels of play, in Kentucky and across the nation. If a student-athlete chooses to attend Morehead State and play intercollegiate athletics, I'm all for it.

I judge people/coaches how they treat players I'm involved with and myself, which to date, has been excellent. I've communicated several time with Morehead's members of the staff and they have been excellent to respond, attend and work with.

Yeah they won a grand total of 13 games against D1 competition last year. Morehead at one time was a very good baseball school when Steve Hamilton was there.Surely you cannot deny that they have been laughable since their current head coach took over. Baseball America two or three years ago rated them as the 2nd worst D1 baseball program in America.

Steve Hamilton was an amazing coach and one of the few people, to play professional sports in Baseball and Basketball....

Like any college, recruiting quality student-athletes is critical to the success of the program. Loss of funding and scholarships in other sports, changing of conferences and not being in the OVC has certainly affected MSU, from years past.

It's still an opportunity to participate in intercollegiate athletics and receive a college education. I'm for looking ahead and not in the past to compare.

Sorry to get this thread off track but every student-athlete who is considering Morehead State for baseball, should make their own choice as to what program is best for them.

That was just the point I was trying to make. They are not attractive to most top notch players when it comes to recruiting. I'm not sure that they are able to evaluate talent very well anyways with the way they have handled some of the very good local players that did want to go there. Heath Castle was not good enough for them and then he became the University of Kentucky's ace as a junior and ended up being drafted 3 straight years . Jeremy Slone and Chas Harmon wasn't good enough in their mind either. Then you look at some of the other guys that they recruit and sign. It's hard to figure out.

Morehead's baseball team I think still plays in the OVC.

They did not loose any scholarships in baseball. They still have the same amount of scholarships to offer that every other D1 college in the United States has to offer, so I dont understand how what has happened in other sports has had an effect on the baseball program.

NCAA D1 requirements for admittance and acceptance, are also based on ACT scores, grades and registering with the Clearinghouse....so I won't comment on the names you mentioned, although I could.

It affects all programs, when schools withdraw scholarships, lose funding and no longer participate in conferences in various sports, because prospective student-athletes and parents, have a sense of uncertainty about a program. Part of the college choice, is appeal, size of enrollment, tuition cost, surrounding area, all of which are factors to consider.

Again, my apologies to everyone for getting this thread off topic.

No need to comment on the ones, because two of three that I mentioned were 4.0 students and model citizens in their community. Am I correct on that STRIKE3 ?

Funny that Steve Hamilton and Sonny Allen could make Morehead a regional powerhouse in their days , with a lot of local talent.

I would say the sense of uncertainty among some parents might lie more into the rumors of a change in regime for the past several years. I think that the job was offered to a former player that has been highly successful in the high school ranks a couple of years ago and it was turned down, but that's really not been that much of a secret.

I think it's a sad state of affairs when you have had both former coaches of Paintsville and Johnson Central who are currently in the Morehead State Hall of Fame as players advise their own high school players to consider other options rather than to attend Morehead to play baseball.

Morehead also has the lowest tuition rate among all the D1 schools in Kentucky and some of the other reasons you are mentioning such as what has happened in football or basketball effecting baseball has no bearing whatsoever on the baseball program.

Dont mean to offend you or anyone else STRIKE3 because obviously some one from the Morehead staff has spoken kindly to you at one time or another and I can understand you defending someone in that respect, but the plain truth and facts are the plain truth and facts. I never once myself said that anybody wasn't a nice guy, I dont know any of them personally. Now if you would decide not to further discredit what I say, I will gladly let the subject die and let the thread get back on course.

KingoftheMnts: Your free to come out anytime to Morehead State - come watch our team to find out how hard these boys work and what kind of talent we have. A lot of changes are taking place at MSU. See for yourself!

Well then good luck to you coach. With you mentioning the fact that you are admitting changes are taking place tends to validate a lot of what I have said. Hey coach also tell that to a lot of some of the extremely good local kids that have been snubbed by Morehead State and had to unjustly travel away to play .

Like I said several times, sorry to get this thread off course but KOM, we disagree entirely with your comments regarding the coaching staff and shambles, as you alleged at MSU.

I can name of 100's of players that didn't attend MSU and it wasn't a snub but they chose not to attend their, because of liking others schools and the surroundings, other sports and academic reasons.

Not every player that plays D1 in the state of Kentucky, is recruited by all the same schools. Louisville and Kentucky, have appeal to student-athletes, that Morehead doesn't have but that is not related to any staff, just hard reality.

You've not offended me but I would imagine the 25± players on the MSU roster, might take exception to you referring to them in that manner. Just because you don't like the staff for whatever reason, is your right but don't imply to any prospect they shouldn't go there, it's not your decision.

That all-knowing horse your riding on, may need to stop and get a drink of water, from the fountain of reality....:thumb:

Man O Man you just wont let it die, will you?

I never once said that no player should not attend Morehead. I said that I can see it not being an attractive place to choose for a top notch recruit. And the only other thing I said is that I thought that the coaching staff had done a poor job in recruiting. Go back and reread before you get so high and mighty. But if I did say what you said I said, I have every right to state what I feel about the subject. Are you a monitor now that can tell everyone what they should be able to state an opinion on and what they cannot?

And one more thing , just because you may personally like someone on the staff does not mean you have the right to criticize me for stating what my opinion is. I guarantee that most of the John Q Public of the baseball world dont see things much different than I may see it. Doesn't it seem strange to you that 2 Hall of Fame Morehead players as well as two Kentucky Hall of Fame coaches would discourage their own players from attending Morehead? I guess your calling them idiots too? Heck, you even got whom I presume to be a Morehead coach getting on here and stating that things are changing. If it was not broken to begin with then why would you admit that it's changing?

I have tried to be civil in this discussion, but the "Know all horse" comment is uncalled for, and that long drink of reality that you imply that I need a drink of can be realized in the records of Morehead State for the last 12 years. How's that for a drink of reality? I very rarely ever post on here, but I do have an opinion on this subject, but I will say that since you want to get into the know-it-all accusations then I think we can look no further than your mutitude of expert opinions that you offer on here on anything that has to do with a baseball to see who is always riding the know all horse. Did God make you the knower of all knowledge on just about every subject that gets posted about baseball? It certainly sometimes appears that he did or you just plain think he did. I just offered my opinion on something, and that is all. I certainly didn't bring you into this as it was you that just cant either ignore what I say and let it die, or your ego just wont let not have the last word. If I have offended one of your buddies on the staff or anyone that is on the roster I would presume that they are all big boys by now and they are all very more than capable of either defending themselves or just plain ignoring whatever it is that I have to say. I really dont think that they are in desperate need of a knight in shining armour to come to their defense. I offered a few posts back to just let it die. How about it ? You are the very bird responsible for the thread continuing in the direction it is going.

Oh My....
Oh My....
Yeah that's about what I would expect. That post makes just about as much sense as everything else you have tried to sugarcoat and spin around about the subject. Nice job.
