winterweather
Doing research on Knox Central this week for a broadcast, need some help. I know they have had success recently but not terribly familiar with their history. Was the school formed as part of consolidation? What is their history? How long have they had a program, regional championships, etc. Any notable players that have gone to D1. Primary rivals? Not worried as much about this year's roster but top players and general offensive/defensive philosophies would be welcome. Any help would be appreciated Edited September 11, 2017 by True blue (and gold)
gchs_uk9
@winterweather A few odds and ends for you... -The school was consolidated a long time ago and was participating in high school basketball district tournaments as early as 1936. -Have played football since at least 1939. I have record of them finishing 0-4-2 in Cumberland Valley Conference play that season (Corbin was the champion). -Won two district championships: 1975 (AAA) and 2014 (4A). -Are 9-17 all-time in playoff games and have never won a region title. They lost in the regional final in 1975 (Highlands), 2008 (Bell County), 2010 (Bell County, again), and 2015 (Wayne County). -Have made the playoffs every season since 2006. Prior to that season they had only made the playoffs six times. -Current EKU starting linebacker Jeffrey Canady played at Knox Central and was a terrific running back and linebacker. -Were coached from 2011-15 by Scott Russell who was Mr. Football at Evarts in 1990.
