Notre Dame 49 Temple 16

Featured Replies

Brandon Wimbush, a junior making his first career start, threw for two touchdowns and ran for 106 yards and another touchdown to lead Notre Dame to a 49-16 season-opening victory over Temple on Saturday.

I realize Temple lost a lot on D from last year, but it's good to see ND handle a team they should handle. I think Chip Long did a decent job calling the plays. Hopefully that continues.

Josh Adams had 19 carries for 161 with two TDs. Dexter Williams had 124 yards on 6 carries and a TD. Notre Dame's 422 rushing yards against the Owls were the most in any game by the Irish since a 2015 rout of UMass.

Like you pointed out, it's just Temple, but the running game was impressive yesterday. Especially behind Mike McGlinchey and Quenton Nelson on the left side of the line. The Irish got whatever they wanted running behind those two. I hope they can maintain that kind of commitment to the running game this year.
