August 7, 20179 yr I'm sorry but I'm am a huge sucker for the induction ceremony in Canton. I love hearing everyone's stories regardless of where it may end. My parents took myself and three brothers on the four hour drive north. This was 1997 if memory serves me correct. We had yet to get the internet, but my folks new we loved and lived football so they used the old house phone to make plans. We had already been to Cooperstown but football was us. My dad had to choose between having a job and money or playing ball in highschool. My parents said as long as we played sports we didn't need a job, but once the season ended we better find one. That stuck with all four of us. We go up and unbeknownst to us it's the Friday of induction weekend. That week Mike Webster was getting in and I believe Don Shula. We take the tour. Awesome. Mike Haynes of the Patriots and Raiders gave my little bro an autograph. My twin brother noticed the great Frank Gifford of Monday night game heading to the restroom. We each go on both side of him. He looks at each of us and says "How's it going fellas". Awesome. My mom who was always taking the pic and never in it took a pic of myself and brothers sitting on the steps to the main entrance of the Hall of Fame with my dad literally standing behind the podim like he was giving a speech. I watched the induction ceremony that year for the first time. They were still doing it on the main entrance. And I've not missed one yet. I love football and I love the history even more. No one player can do it alone. Even Walter Payton and Tom Brady need people to block and catch balls. Soap box done
August 7, 20179 yr Author I apologize. If you haven't watched the induction ceremony you should. Morten Anderson had me cracking up and LaDanian Tomlinson had me ready to run through two brick walls. Awesome
August 7, 20179 yr A bunch of great speeches, Morton Anderson was great and fun, Tomlinson was inspirational, Terrell Davis and Kurt Warner talked about playing thru adversity, and somehow Jerry Jones was entertaining and funny and gracious towards Jimmy Johnson
