Is Ashland's Principles Changing?

Featured Replies

Seems like a few years ago, there was a Kid named Mayo who lived across te river and went to Rose Hill. Ashland said their principles wouldnt allow them to play them.

Now, there is a kid named Mayo, who lives across the river from his school, and Ashland is playing them?

Has the principles changed?

Is Ashland trying to cancel this game?

This sounds like "DEJAVU ALL OVER AGAIN"

(sorry I couldnt resist that one):D

It is an interesting question.

I will expand and ask even more. What is the principle? Was it Mayo? Is it a private school thing? Or is it a Rose Hill thing?

Mayo is gone and they still won't schedule Rose Hill but they are playing Huntington High which has Mayo on its roster. So obviously it isn't a Mayo thing.

Maybe it is a Rose Hill thing. Nope. Ashland schedules Rose Hill sports such as softball, volleyball, tennis, soccor, cross country, track, golf and baseball but not boys or girls basketball. Plus they will play Rose Hill if they draw them in the boys or girls district. Plus they were always willing to schedule Rose Hill pre OJ. So obviously it isn't a Rose Hill thing.

So it must be a private school thing. Nope. They play Cov. Cath. year in and year out, invited Bishop Brossart to the AIT last year and played Lexington Catholic last year. That's right Lexington Catholic, the lightening rod for boys basketball across the state.

Maybe its a tall person thing.

One thing is for sure it isn't a principle thing because principles don't change.

Or is it that busing kids in from other States isn't right??? That's one principle that hasn't changed. Publics can't do it and privates shouldn't either!!!!

HHS has been on the schedule for a couple of years now and we'll play'em. Besides, with all of the hick hack over Mayo and Walker I'm not not sure anyone should "judge" Ashland on their stand a few years back??? At any rate when Ashland does play Huntington High there will be serveral D-I prospects on the floor!!!! And guess what their coming to Anderson Gym ;-)

Good point, except there are not busses running at Rose Hill now and they still won't play them

So is it a busing thing or an out of state thing? or both?

No one is talking about a few years back, it is right now that is being questioned and you danced around that issue.

One last thing if Anderson Gym hasn't been moved to Huntington HHS won't be coming their anytime this season. The game is a home game for HHS.

Onetoya, I know how you can get a couple of more D-1 prospects playing on the floor at Anderson Gym. Just schedule Rose Hill, or is that the problem.

I think with Buddy Biggs now at the helm you will start to see a change in Ashlands scheduling. While at PC he took on the best from in and out of state and I'm sure he will want to do so with the Tomcats.

If you don't have a dog in this fight maybe you should just worry about the teams that you follow.

I see this thread going in the wrong direction.:irked:
