I would personally have a hard time being very critical of Ft. Campbell, a school like that is gonna have extreme ups and downs. I think he should apologize for a comment like that, regardless of who you're playing you don't over look a team and disrespect them like that. Bad sportsmanship, he is showing his players the wrong way to go about it.

Tim isn't from hopkinsville, I understand that. But the kids at Fort Campbell live very unique lives. Even in these times when we don't think we are at "war" Fort campbell soldiers are being deployed all the time to hostile spots. The last few weeks a bunch of soldiers have been getting back from iraq.

 

I wouldn't have said that about any team, but saying it about Fort Campbell is even worse.

Here is the quote from the paper. What he said on the radio was even worse/more harsh.

 

“To get the No. 1 seed, we’re guaranteed to go the regional tournament. Fort Campbell ain’t beating us in the district. If they do then I need to fired,”

It just seems to get worse. You're right I wouldn't say that about anyone but saying it about Ft. Campbell just makes it worse.

He is a well respected coach, I am sure he will make a public apology and do the right thing. He must have just been caught up in the moment.

I'll say it too...Haworth should be fired if he loses to Ft. Campbell.

I am pretty sure he is referring to the team and not the military or their families. People say things like that all the time and it is not considered disrespectful. I have no problem with a coach saying they shouldn't lose and if they do they should be fired.

Disagree. It is different with fort campbell. And as a coach it absolutely is disrespectful to say "we aren't losing to team x". Especially when the kids on the team are the sons of those who defend us. call me old fashioned but I'm disappointed in my team's coach for this.

 

Further, if you heard how he said it on the radio, you'd understand even more. It was an arrogant statement if there ever was one.

I know that he would like to take back and rephrase what he said. He is a good guy and I bet he got caught and was happy that he won the district and let his mouth slip up.

I'm sure if he would've been interviewed the next day instead of right after the game he would've said it different. I don't care who you are or who you're playing you shouldn't publicly say a team is terrible and you won't lose to them it's disrespectful to the players, the coaches and the entire community (or base in this case). I think at least he should apologize to the coach before the game whenever they play Ft. Campbell.
