January 24, 20179 yr Winter is coming back to Kentucky starting on Thursday. Parts of Kentucky from around the I-75 corridor could see from a dusting to around .5" of accumulations but 7 pm ET Thursday. Snow looks to continue off and on throughout the weekend with the heaviest possible snow falling Saturday-Sunday. The parts of the state looking at the heaviest accumulations are southern and southeastern Kentucky. 3-5" possible with extreme southeast Kentucky maybe getting upwards to 8". January 24, 20179 yr Author Tuesday evening update: The accumulation totals have gone up a little. Toward the higher end of 1-3". If the trend continues may have to up my outlook some. On the other hand it looks like the totals may have to come down some in SEKY. Still most of the heaviest accumulations look to be from around I-75 eastward. These totals will fluctuate up and down as we get closer to the weekend. I'll post an update in the morning.
January 25, 20179 yr Author Wednesday morning update: Really no change in the outlook. The GFS has been real consistent with the possible snow fall. 1-3" from mainly the I-75 corridor to EKY. A dusting to around one inch is possible around the I-65 corridor. I will probably give my first definitive snow totals either tonight or first thing in the morning. One thing of note. This snow will not fall all at once. It will be off and on all weekend. Update to come later today.
January 25, 20179 yr Author Wednesday evening update: We should see off and on snow showers starting Thursday night into Saturday. Most of the accumulating snow looks to fall on Sunday. My 1st official accumulating snowfall outlook for this weekend. I'm seeing 1-3" mainly east of I-65. West of I-65 a dusting to 1". Southeast Kentucky I'm calling for 3-5" in the higher elevations. Dusting to 1" Paducah Owensboro Hopkinsville Bowling Green 1-2" Louisville Elizabethtown Somerset 1-3" Cincinnati Maysville Lexington Jackson Pikeville Ashland Richmond 3-5" Harlan Middlesboro It looks like some may have another shot about midweek next week for another light round of snow. January 26, 20179 yr Author Thursday morning update: The possible snow accumulation totals look like they may be going up east of a line from Maysville down to Lexington to Somerset. Accumulation totals of 2-4" will be possible. The Harlan-Middlesboro area is now looking at 5-7" as of this morning. I'll post an update later today.
January 27, 20179 yr Author First let me apologize for not posting and update last night. My arthritis was bothering me so bad yesterday after I got off work that I just got in my recliner and stayed. I didn't sleep well last night either so after this I'm going back to bed. Friday morning update: I'm seeing a wide spread 1-3" mainly on Sunday from around I-65 eastward.
