January 20, 20179 yr As I was watching the video that @LCDAWGS19 posted in the "Cover Songs" thread, I saw that Men At Work's, Colin Hay, did a cover song for AV Undercover, so I went to youtube and was checking out some Hay's stuff........WOW, the dude can sing and play. So who is still around from back in the day, that we don't hear of, and can still put out some good stuff? Go to the 8:32 mark of this video for really nice acoustic number.
January 20, 20179 yr Tom Petty (sometimes with the Heartbreakers, sometimes without) has continued to make outstanding music in the last 20 years, long after his peak pop chart success. The Mudcrutch album that came out recently is great.

This is interesting because I used to really dig Men at Work but for some reason pretty much forgot about them, and haven't even considered whatever happened to Colin. Cool to know that he's still out there doing it. Makes me wonder who else has slipped my mind that might still be at it.
January 20, 20179 yr When discussing still sounding great, and Scott Walker in the same breath it's a good bet that if more people heard what he's been up to since rising to pop star status in the mid sixties as the front man for the Walker Brothers with their big hit "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" they first might say Scott who?, and for those whose memories are refreshed would probably cringe at his ever changing bizarre "musical" material over the past 50 years. Wikipedia describes Walker, who is now 74, as an American-born British singer-songwriter, composer, and record producer noted for his distinctive baritone voice and for the unorthodox career path which has taken him from 1960's pop icon to 21st century avant-garde musician. After the success of the Walker Brothers hits, Scott in 1967 began a solo career moving toward an increasingly challenging baroque pop style on late 60's albums. His solo work drew acclaim but resulted in diminished commercial sales, leading him to reunite with Walker Brothers in the mid-1970's. Since the mid-1980's Walker has revived his solo career while moving in an increasingly avant-garde direction that has been likened to Andy Williams reinventing himself as Stockhausen (who is a bizarre German avant-garde composer). Since the mid-80's he has put out 6 releases one ever more increasingly stranger than the last. Here he is with The Walker Brothers and "The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine Anymore" [video=youtube;koO-rnus45M]
