Trouble in Ashland?

Featured Replies

ASHLAND The owner of an Ashland restaurant railed against city government officials and a museum director in a lengthy Facebook post that was shared virally and stirred controversy throughout the region.

Robert Batchelor, owner of The Ambassador Restaurant & Catering, on Carter Avenue, posted the nearly 4,000-word reprimand Tuesday on the restaurant’s Facebook page. As of Wednesday, the original post was commented on more than 400 times and shared more than 1,000 times from the business’ page alone.

I'd like to hear the opinions from anyone who reads the entire article. Is he just a disgruntled small business owner that has an axe to grind? Is the city treating him (or anyone else) unfairly? Is there some type of corruption involved?

This thing is going viral locally on facebook so I figured it deserves some mention here on BGP, given the economic struggles this part of the state is having. If this needs moved to any other forum feel free to move it moderators. This thing is gaining a lot of traction locally though so I figure I would at least post it here. I'll save my thoughts on this for later.

I know my way around local ordinances and ABC laws. There's blame on both sides. Sounds like the city was happy to part ways with the business owner at least in part because of his public profile. It's a stupid situation where nobody really wins except that catering company 2 hours away in Lex. Could've been handled better on both sides.
