January 19, 20179 yr Author Per recent update from Player's Mother: ARTICLE MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - After the devastating death of NMU Football player and student, Anthony Herbert, a statement was released on his personal Facebook page by Lori Herbert, Anthony's mom. The statement reads that Anthony did have an enlarged heart that was never made known to the family. The autopsy was performed Tuesday and results will not be confirmed for a couple weeks. The 20-year-old sophomore was watching a movie in his dorm according to Lori Herbert. Attempts to revive Anthony were unsuccessful by his roommate and EMS. Anthony previously went to football practice and had breakfast with teammates before the incident occurred. So the enlarged heart condition was not made known to the family. That seems to imply the medical condition was known to someone. Athletes have been dying from this condition since at least Hank Gathers nearly 25 years ago. Can some of the medical people chime in and explain why this condition is not better screened during medical qualification?
