Corey Spencer and Matt Slone from region 8 have a real shot at winning state, depending on what weight they wrestle at.

I'm a big Harrison Courtney fan. The kid was born with it in his blood. I'm still upset about what happened a few years back to him at the state championship. I think he will fair well this year, and bring woodford back yet another gold! :thumb:

where are they from?

Spencer is from Johnson Central. Slone is from Sheldon Clark.

Matt Slone won the middle school state title last year, I'm not sure at what weight... it was something around 130. He also won most valuable wrestler. Corey Spencer placed 4th in 103 in 2005, loosing to Matt Slone. Then in '06 he got 7th in 112. Region 8 has some excellent wrestlers and some great teams this year.

I'd say that Patrick Banks is another name that has to be in the discussion!

Junior Bryan Peace from Ryle. Place 2nd at 130 last year in a 10-8 decision. Very good wrestler. My sons wrestled his older brother who was a wildman on the mat.

At 140 you have Golsby (Holmes), Thueneman (Scott) and Sanders (Harrison County). All very good and have won and lost to each other.

What about that guy that wrestled at 171 for Sheldon Clark last year? HOw do you think he'll do?

Ryan Kelly should place, but he won't get past Mark Jones from North Hardin or Mason Reid from Ryle, both of who pinned Kelly in the second period at state last year.

Ryan Kelly may not win state this year. Before he graduates, he will be on the top of the medal stand.

Oh Yeah, he'll be a tough one, do you think that he'll win the region this year with Cody Zachur gone, or is there someone else that is in region 8 that can give him a run for his money?

Ryan should go 189 this year. He SHOULD be able to run the table at that weight in the region, and place alot higher this year in state.

Josh Cooper... From Simon Kenton

Any wrestler from Simon Kenton has a shot at winning state. I thought they had a good showing at state last year.
