So most counties, cities and towns are or have been victims of corruption? Really? Can you show some stats to support that? How many instances have risen to the level of turning a once thriving community into what resembles a 3rd world country? Can you name a State, county, city, town or community that is being governed by Conservatives that has fallen like this?

 

There are cities across the nation that have had their work forces displaced by the closing of factories or businesses moving elsewhere. How many of those devolve into the war zone that is Detroit Michigan?

 

I'm not making comparisons of scale. Just saying it goes on everywhere. Corruption can be as innocuous-seeming as your local Judge-Executive using taxpayer dollars to pave his driveway.

Oh. Or maybe even the Executive's secretary taking home a pen from the office at the end of the day...since we are not comparing scale, I guess this qualifies as government corruption, according to your definition? I'd still like to see your stats to back up your assertion that "most" are corrupt.

Detroit's fall was tied to being a one trick pony...the Auto industry. Once decentralization from the big 3 began, along with increased competition and automation started eliminating jobs, the downward spiral began. All Detroits eggs were in that one basket.

 

While the auto industry shrinking hurt big time , don't downplay the corruption of Detroit. Corrupt is an understatement. Like I said while I was there a Mayor was sent to jail. They had 40 plus years of pure corruption.
