I havent got to write about this since it happened on tuesday(work). P-Burg and Pikeville were scheduled to play a JV football game this past tuesday at P-burg. Someone from P-burg called the school on tuesday morning to say that they had to cancel the JV game because "the field was in too bad of shape because of the rain". Granted this is second hand info but from an extremely reliable source. If this is true it is a sad commentary on what P-burg football has become, and might explain why the players dont play with any fire about them like some of the P-burg fans themselves have said on here. If the P-burg coaching staff is afriad of theyre players getting dirty then sorry guys but you might want to get a new coaching staff or just kill the football program and start getting ready for b-ball if you cant do any better than that!

^^^Would have been easy to move it to the turf at Pikeville...

Yeah youd think but my guess is the real reason they didnt want to play is because they didnt wanna get theyre tails kicked by us twice in four days after the smackdown our varsity give them.

LOL... You guys crack me up.

Prestonsburg had to completely re-sod the field due to a goof with summer maintainance of it. Seems a miscommunication between the school and the city resulted in a DOUBLE dose of fertilizer. This resulted in a completely burned (dead) playing field. It happened in July. VERY quickly, sod was brought in to re-establish a playing surface.

Since the re-sod, the school is being VERY careful with the field because there hasn't been enough time for it to anchor. When the ground is wet, only the varsity is allowed to play on it.

Last Friday, the field took a LOT of abuse (much more than one game's worth). You could see loosened chunks of the sod all over the place. I'm guessing they've worked hard this week trying to improve the damage.

I don't know why the game wasn't moved to Pikeville. Maybe there was a soccer game, or something. Maybe Coach D. preferred using the time to practice. I have no idea.

haha, this is funny. I graduated in 2003 and played football for four years, it seemed odd to me that Pikeville wasn't interested in scheduling us during the several years they were down. But, now P-burg struggles they're (Pikeville) all for it. I know there has been coaching changes and all that. My point is when P-burg was more like the Pburg I was used to, Pikeville was no where to be seen and wanted no part of us......
