This year's all-region choices

Here's the point most people are missing. Just because a player has a good junior season (or freshman or sophomore season) it does not automatically mean they will have another good season or better season the next year. I've been following HS sports for a long time and I have seen a lot of players have less successful seasons their senior year (or junior year). Many things can cause this, injuries can be one reason. But you also have kids peak at different ages, kids mature physically and mentally at different ages play a factor. We've all seen the stud 7th and 8th grader become average at best by their sophomore or junior year. Kids loose interest, find other things more important (to them) and just don't have the same passion come their senior season. And the other big factor, some kids just get lazy, allow the headlines to go to their head while other kids work the butt off and greatly improve in one years time. The single biggest cause for separation between good players and great players at 16 and older, the great players work 10x harder then the average or good players.

Again ALL players each season should start at zero, should all be equal. Then these awards should be solely based on THAT season. But obviously this will never happen. The current system, at times ignores the kids that most earned it, the kids that out work the majority.
